Wedding 16th August 2008

Fiona and Billy from London had their marriage ceremony at St Mary's Church in Whitland, West Wales. The reception was held nearby in a marquee pitched in a meadow belonging to Fiona's parents. The setting was idyllic, unfortunately the weather was not. Heavy rain and wind lashed the proceedings all day, but just as the bride and groom were to make their entrance for the wedding breakfast, the clouds parted and we managed to find a piece of solid ground to jump out for a few photographs before the food was served.

Bethan and Nicholas from Gelli, South Wales who held their ceremony and reception at the Glen-Yr-Afon Hotel in Usk, Monmouthshire. I don't know who looks the most nervous in the first picture the groom or the two bestmen. The sun shine managed to break through the cloud just as the bride and groom walked out of the hotel after the service.

Kathy and Mark from Leeds decided to get married in Cardiff as a kind of mid-way point between their families in Leeds and Northern Ireland, the city also held some good memories for Kathy after her university years here. The service was held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church and the reception at the Mecure Holland House Hotel.

The wedding of Rachel and Jonathan was held at St.Catwg's Church in Pentrych, South Wales, the bride's childhood home town. The groom is from Ohio in the USA, they met in New York , where Rachel was training as a classical singer and Jonathan was the pianist. The reception venue also had an 'North American' theme as it was held at the Canada Lodge in Creigiau.

Nigella and Leigh from Thornhill in Cardiff got married at St. Isan's Church in Llanishen. The sun made a rare appearance, so to make the most of it we stopped at Roath Park before going to the reception at Mecure Holland House Hotel on Newport Road.

Emma and Simon from Undy in Monmouthshire got married at Magor Church and then held a drinks reception at Llansantffraed Court Hotel near Abergavenny. The wedding breakfast was held at The Foxhunter in Nantyderry, Usk, where the renowned chef Matthew Tebbutt prepared some wonderful food to go with what I am sure was some delicious wine - Simon is a wine merchant.

Kathryn and William from London got married and held their reception at St Donat's Art Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan. Kathryn's home town is Barry in South Wales and with William being from England it was not long before a "Gavin and Stacey" reference was made. The last photograph in this set is probably the cheesiest I have ever taken - a very practical alternative to a traditional wedding cake.

Sara and Mark from Cardiff got married at the Tabernacle Chapel in Efail Isaf, South Wales, then on the way to the reception at the Canada Lodge in Creigiau, the couple asked if we could stop off at Garth Mountain. The bride changed her wedding shoes to trainers and we made our way up the mountain, just high enough to get a decent view of the valley leading to Cardiff.

Amy and Darren from Sarn, South Wales got married at the All Saints Church in Pen-y-Fai near Bridgend. Darren was probably one of the most nervous grooms I have photographed, but he managed to survive the service to enjoy a marvellous reception at The Vale Hotel in Hensol.

Rebekka and Matthew met whilst she was a exchange student from Austria at medical school, where they were both training to be doctors. They got married at the Clifton Catholic Cathedral and held their reception at the Orangery in Goldney Hall, Bristol.
